•Supports Surgical Services staff in obtaining and returning special order products and equipment
oActs as primary contact for surgeon's offices in regards to all service line equipment, supplies, services, or implants needed for a scheduled surgery
oReceives purchase requisitions and verifies information as directed and as needed
oAssigns requisition number using appropriate purchasing system
oEnsures orders are placed in a timely manner to avoid additional shipping costs whenever possible
oProvides support to special equipment delivery process as needed
oProvides support to loan/rental/repair process as directed
oProvides support to return loaner and rental equipment and instrumentation as needed

•Maintains surgical procedure preference cards
oPartner with service line subject matter experts to create new preference cards
oCollaborate with inventory staff to update preference cards as product changes happen in the OR inventory
oReview preference cards versus schedule daily to prevent procedure and preference card mismatches
oReview preference cards for validity and accuracy on a quarterly basis
oMeet with service resource staff as needed to review and update preference cards
oPartner with Optime team to address procedure scheduling mismatches through use of the ticket system

•Order, maintain, inventory, track, and manage tissue and implants
oEnsure appropriate implants, grafts, and tissue are available for surgical cases
oMonitor outdates on all special-order implants as needed
oProvide support and collaborate with appropriate departments for all implant recalls

•Tissue Coordination
oResponsible for tissue tracking and audits

•Assist in maintaining service line specific supplies/equipment
oPartners with clinical engineering and service line resources to ensure all received equipment is in proper working order prior to use on patient
oPartner with Information Systems and OR leadership to address computer based issues

•Interface with vendors
oCommunicate with sales/vendor representatives as needed regarding new or existing supplies and equipment
oMaintain professional relationships with vendors
oEnsure compliance with vendor/sales rep/contractor's credential checklist
oEnsure operating room compliance with Joint Commission requirements

•Utilize organizational skills to assure smooth functioning of department operations
oAssist with special procedures, special projects, and other duties/tasks as assigned
oUnder direction of operating room leadership, assist with orientation of new OR staff to special product ordering and loaner equipment/trays processes
oPrioritize delegated tasks based on patient care needs and unit activities
oRequest assistance with delegated tasks when needed
oComplete work/tasks within allotted time frame, reporting unfinished responsibilities to appropriate staff

•Manage trial/acquisition/implementation process
oPartner with clinicians to facilitate introduction of new products to OR/WDH
oCollaborate with NERI to ensure that all products/equipment are in serviced or competencies in an appropriate manner
oCollaborate with Clinical Engineering to promote the expedited repair of any malfunctioning equipment
oCoordinates the arrival of special order equipment/trays, ensuring it is processed prior to arrival in the OR
oCollaborate with the Clinical Equipment Coordinator to track all incoming clinical equipment

Qualifications
Experience Minimum Required
• 3-5 years' experience working as a surgical technologist

Experience Preferred/Desired
• 5-7 years' experience working as a surgical technologist or circulator

Education Minimum Required
• Completion of an accredited CST program

Education Preferred/Desired
• Completion of an accredited CST program or BSN program

Special Skills Minimum Required
• Basic familiarity with all WDH surgical service lines, common procedures, and supplies/implants

Special Skills Preferred/Desired
• Microsoft Office
• Partners eCare

Licensure and/or Certifications Required
• CST

Licensure and/or Certifications Preferred/Desired
• CST or BSN
