We are looking for digitally capable individuals who can stand-out in the technical authoring community, helping the Wood Operations Authoring teams move to the next level in digital, interactive and automated delivery. Our Operations Authoring teams produce documentation for a wide range of clients across many industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, renewables, oil & gas, utilities and petrochemical.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a range of technical operations documentation, including Operating Procedures, Operating Manuals, Operations Training materials, in line with project specific requirements.
  • Liaise with clients on technical clarifications in relation to operations projects work scopes
  • Under the guidance of the Lead Operations Technical Specialist, support the required technical review of deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Provide guidance and advice to peers and direct reports on Production and Technical issues
  • Ensure all deliverables are met within the project allocated timeline and development targets
  • Use electronic document / information management systems
  • Support the Lead Operations Technical Specialists in the provision of data for project progress reports
  • Work alongside other internal teams and departments to ensure project delivery


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • A technical engineering qualification, or equivalent is desired. This can be in Operations or other engineering discipline.

Skills & Competences:
  • Understanding of engineering and technical source documentation (P&IDs, Data Sheets, Cause & Effects etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with subject matter experts, derive essentials and compile narrative and procedures
  • Skilled user of MS Office applications, especially Word
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Highly numerate
  • Logical and critical thinker
  • Engineering science / wide range of engineering knowledge
  • Excellent standard of English, particularly spelling and grammar
  • Understands and can use 'Technical English'
  • Ability to communicate effectively with direct reports; assess situations and resolve potential problem areas. Good communications skills including client focused
  • Experience of previous technical authoring activities is advantageous although not essential
  • Experience of interactive digitalisation of documentation and associated requirements is an advantage
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required
