Waterjet Operations Leader at OMAX

Hypertherm Associates is looking for a change agent and a change leader. As our Waterjet Operations Leader, you will guide a team of Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, and Quality Associates to align the operations team with the overall Waterjet business and functional strategies. The ideal candidate will develop the organizational plan for achieving those strategies and manage the team's progress toward achieving it.

Hypertherm Associates is a 100% Associate-owned company, whose mission is to provide customers with the best industrial cutting solutions in the industry. Globally focused, at our Kent, Washington location, we design, manufacture, and support high pressure waterjet cutting systems and equipment.

Essential responsibilities of this role include:

People Leadership:

  • Provide leadership to a cross functional team within operations, including manufacturing leaders and technical associates.
  • Responsible for associate selection, training, coaching, development, conflict resolution, planning, performance management and recognition.
  • Maintain a high standard for performance in a professional, supportive, and respectful manner.
  • Foster a team that promotes engagement, development, well-being, and team effectiveness.
  • Build organizational capability by developing associates, establishing mentors and training by looking at a business team and enterprise wide to meet changing business needs.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Grow a culture of continuous improvement via systemic approach using effective strategy, mentorship, and associate recognition leading to increased engagement with support of the Corporate CI Team.
  • Drive team to achieve CI objectives and targets, including CIA and Lean projects of various sizes.
  • Drive systemic changes to support long term growth.

Safety:
  • Promote a safety culture through strategic planning and actively drive the reduction of ergonomic risk.
  • Ensure that the work environment remains safe through adherence to OSHA standards and corporate safety programs.

Quality:
  • Implement quality systems and a culture that will detect quality concerns before they become issues.

Capacity and Planning:
  • Partner with Commodity Managers and Master Schedulers to develop strategies for production and support materials, ensuring inventory is optimized for the supply chain and customer delivery needs are met.
  • Responsible for Production Capacity and risk mitigation plans to support AOP.

Financial Acumen:
  • Develop financial plan for the manufacturing team, review performance vs plan monthly; implement corrective action.
  • Accountable to identify and drive capital investments that positively impact safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

New Product Development:
  • Represent the operations function in the NPD development process and raise concerns when appropriate.

Reporting & Metrics:
  • Analyze, develop, and report on key operational metrics to measure performance against team and customer expectations.
  • Identify and sponsor projects to address gaps.

Project Leadership:
  • Lead projects and mentor others utilizing established project management practices to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Strategic Vision & Leadership:
  • Assist with the development of the operational vision and strategy for the business team.
  • Identify future opportunities and obstacles across the business and collaborate with other business teams and functional teams to drive for company goals. Solve complex business team problems.

Who you are and the experience you will bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, and 7 years of operations leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a high-tech, fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of supply chain management in MRP and Lean environments.
  • Demonstrated success with Lean and/or Six Sigma projects.
  • Track record of creating an engaging environment and developing others.
  • Expertise with Capacity Planning.
  • Capital equipment budgeting, justification, and implementation experience.
  • Intermediate project management experience.
  • Financial, data, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across boundaries.
  • Green Belt certification.

Preferred experience to differentiate you:
  • Master's Degree in Business, STEM
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

$126,945.12-$211,576.56 AnnualThis is the base pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.
Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
