Key Responsibilities:• Schedule service and satisfy customer service request. Ensure that service is completed in accordance within requested day and time frame.
• Dispatch calls to appropriate driver based on location and credentials needed.
• Perform driver check-ins throughout the day to ensure jobs are being completed on time as scheduled.
• Distribute job information to drivers and ensure they have appropriate PPE and equipment needed.
• Ensure coordination with other offices to clarify roles and responsibilities on services being performed by drivers from multiple offices.
• Interacts with customers, sales, & Operations staff.
• Fields incoming calls / emails from customers and confirm receipt of request and schedule accordingly.
• Trouble shoots and resolves potential delivery and pickup problems before they result in service issues.
• Assists in determining daily level of driver staffing to provide best mix of responsiveness and productivity.
• Records and document information from drivers and distributes to appropriate departments.
• Communicates with maintenance shop personnel.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via email, and telephone.
Support / Communicate with Operations Supervisor to ensure production expectations are being met.
• Enter information into and maintain dispatch log on shared driver to ensure accuracy.
• Schedule trucks throughout the day as needed to service customers same day.
• May perform some additional responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:• Completion of high school. Post-secondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
• 1-2 years in a transportation, dispatch or customer service role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer focus.
• Proven ability to multi-task & ability to prioritize tasks.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
• Knowledge of industry an asset.
• Required to work extended hours and on-call after hours including weekends.
• Additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or similar area of study; customer service experience.
