Job Description

The Operations Coordinator supports the Operations Manager's leadership over managing and training process improvements in regulatory compliant manner, Assay Transition Processes, Facilities, and Preventative Maintenance.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate Assay Transition to Lab Operations of sample preparation, paperwork preparation and other aspects as needed.
  • Lead scheduling / coordination with Lab Operations of Long-Term Stability lab work (Molecular testing and Immunology testing).
  • Co-ordinate and Track Long-Term Stability Data Analysis with the Project Lead.
  • Co-ordinate and Track the transfer of Long-Term Stability data from the Project Lead to Technical Writers.
  • Support Operations Manager in his/her efforts to implement/maintain systems for:
  • Effective transition of assays to the testing lab.
  • Project work scheduling department-wide as needed.
  • Calibration and maintenance of all R&D equipment and instruments are successfully completed per schedule and appropriately documented in Quality Management Software.
  • Lab work processes.
  • Best use of facilities.
  • Department Inventory
  • Support Operations Manager in addressing emergent daily R&D operational issues
  • Aid in delivering/organizing laboratory training to all new laboratory personnel.
  • Provide technical courses that will focus on pre-analytical and analytical techniques; manual and auto-pipetting, extraction techniques, PCR and other instrument techniques, instrument maintenance, proper GDP documentation and data analysis.
  • Coordinate training for new hires and maintain project training calendar.
  • Maintain training records for employees and new hires.
  • Conduct training needs analysis.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Scientific Managers in developing / delivering new courses.
  • Liaise with internal training providers (internal and external) as needed to supplement and improve training.
  • Provide support on training matters during audits and inspection.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, reagents and materials needed for training.
  • Communicate and escalate training updates to next management level as required.
  • Demonstrate to new associates the placement of biohazardous waste disposal bins, chemical waste disposal, sharps, and broken glass disposal according to regulations.
  • Partner with Operations Manager to address Non-Conforming Events and completion of Non-Conforming Events..
  • Ensure laboratory associates are up to date at all times with training.
  • Resolve technical problems and ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken when deficiencies or errors are found.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards, as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Perform technical laboratory duties competently as per established SOPs and policies.
  • Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement activities. Follow all QC guidelines as stated in the Procedure Manual.
  • Provide information and assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Accept, complete and report on special assignments including clerical work within the agreed upon timeframe.
  • Represent department and the organization favorably and in accordance with established Company standards and associate attributes at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • BS or BA in biological, physical, chemical, or clinical laboratory science
  • 1 year experience in a regulated biological laboratory setting required (3+ years desired).
  • Ability to work on automated and manual platforms
  • Willing to work with potentially infectious human blood and body fluids
  • Requires flexibility in schedule, working hours and days (potentially including weekends) outside of normal schedule when necessary
  • Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and make sound independent decisions
  • Analytical judgment, problem solving skills, accuracy, and detail oriented
  • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs
  • The successful trainer will be a motivated self-starter, capable of working under their own initiative, having both high energy and tenacity
  • Service driven with a professional attitude
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential

Physical Requirements:
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time as necessary in the laboratory (4 or more hours)
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
