Your Role:

The Field Medical Director (FMD) is accountable for enhancing the impact, relevance and overall value of scientific exchanges with influential members of the medical community. This will be achieved by direct contribution to MSL-led virtual HCP meetings, thereby elevating these exchanges / interactions through demonstrated exceptional ability to connect, communicate and engage in a virtual environment.

  • Provides mutli-dimensional support to complement in-depth scientific, clinical, and educational HCP engagements that are owned and led by regional MSLs; specifically skilled at linking clinical data to clinical practice during scientific exchanges.
  • Serves as field-facing US Medical Affairs (USMA) expert on EMD Serono Oncology Portfolio and Pipeline
  • Acts as US Field Medical Affairs Liaison to the Global ISS governance committees for Oncology
  • Incorporates understanding of data and disease state context to advise Medical Affairs strategy development and tactical planning
  • Serves as USMA Liaison to Physician Network Groups (US Oncology, One Oncology, AON)
  • Leverages expert therapeutic knowledge to inform global strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrates expert-level mastery of content augmented by large volume of external scientific interactions; leads internal insights trainings and retroaction into Medical communication platform
  • Represents field medical leadership cross-functionally in insight analysis and subsequent initiatives
  • Leads high-visibility scientific trainings / projects for key internal partners in partnership with Medical Directors and/or Senior Leadership
  • Demonstrates ability to actualize the potential of a KTL network and make strategic connections between KTLs in order to enhance relationships / partnerships that are beneficial to both EMDS and to the patient communities that we serve.
  • Serves as a solution to a shared challenge or initiative between a KTL network and EMDS
  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop new approaches to deepen understanding of customer needs

Who you are: The Field Medical Director must command a comprehensive understanding of their specific Therapeutic Area (TA), must display exceptional proficiency to connect virtually with Health Care Professionals and to augment virtual scientific interactions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PharmD, PhD, MD or equivalent education
  • English language competency
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and capacity to rapidly establish rapport in a virtual setting
  • Advanced scientific knowledge, relationship building and networking skills
  • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships within a dynamic team environment
  • Normal and routine office duties
  • Ability to travel 25% as field-based position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience in Oncology Therapeutic Area strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years prior experience as a medical science liaison
