How you can make a bigger difference:

The Grand Concourse Counseling Center (formally the Bronx Counseling Resource Center) offers the following services: child, teen, adult, and family services, emotional crisis, living with mental illness, addiction recovery, forging healthy relationships, sadness, worry and loss.

The Office Assistant perform all levels of clerical functions and related tasks such as processing, recording, filing, verifying information, creating reports, maintaining records and providing information. This position may be located in clinical settings and the Office Assistant will be interacting with individuals receiving services and their families. Excellent customer service and communication skills are an essential function of the position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Typing various schedules and reports.
  • Disbursing reports, prepare analyses as needed.
  • Generating and distributing monthly statistical reports.
  • Reviewing fee receipts.
  • Tracking payments.
  • Operating copy machine.
  • Distributing and reconciling petty cash.
  • Relieving reception and other clerical duties as directed by the Office Manager.
  • Responsible for filing material in case records, and other filing.
  • Maintaining case record files.
  • Sorting, indexing and filing correspondence.
  • Procuring file material on request.
  • Recording material removed from files.
  • Assisting Director and Office Manager with Administrative projects as needed.
  • May be asked to travel to offsite meetings and trainings.
  • Reconciling bank statements.
  • May assist in the vetting process of new vendors.
  • Maintaining Medicare billing and control system.
  • Processing remittance checks and accounts receivable reports.
  • Processing monthly Medicare reports prior to claim submission.
  • Printing claims, input clinician pin numbers and mail claims to Medicare.
  • Setting personal fees for clients without insurance coverage with director's approval.
  • Maintaining closed case follow-up system including second letters, collection agency correspondence, and issuing receipts.
  • Assisting in Utilization Review.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented Office Assistants of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required and two years of experience preferred
  • Excellent Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer programs
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software
