Nursing Director, Stead Family Children's Perioperative/Procedure Services is responsible for developing and overseeing the clinical and business operations for all surgical/perioperative/procedural services delivered at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital as define. This includes the SFCH operating rooms, Prep/Recovery departments, Pediatric Cath Lab, and Pediatric Procedure/Radiology Suites. The Associate Nursing Director will work to foster a team effort to provide efficient quality care and support for all patients while embracing the organization's culture, mission, vision, and values.
Additional responsibilities include the development and optimization of staff and the promotion of the Magnet Nursing culture and Nursing Excellence programs. He/she will focus on process improvements, clinical outcomes, budget management, staff development, and will role model service excellence throughout the organization.

- Prep/Recovery Nurse Manager
- Procedural Nurse Manager
- Cath Lab Nurse Manager
- Children's Surgical Program Coordinator
- Nurse Practice Leader
- Administrative Services Coordinator
This nursing leader will have a dual reporting relationship reporting to the SFCH Chief Administrative Officer & the Director Nursing Services, Perioperative Division.
Required Qualifications:
Education or Equivalency Required - Master's degree in Nursing or related field. If Master's Degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa or ability to obtain an Iowa license by date of hire
PALS certification is required
7-10 years experience in an administrative position in a large, complex health care organization with demonstrated ability to work with multiple disciplines to ensure effective health care operations with progressive leadership in perioperative services
Demonstrated experience assuring patient safety, quality of care, and compliance with the Joint Commission and state and federal agencies
Experience developing a high performing flexible workforce
Demonstrated experience developing budgets, establishing priorities, and negotiating resource issues
Experience modeling service excellence principles/standards
Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as a liaison and to collaborate with physicians, staff, patients, and other customers
Desirable Qualifications:
Prior work experience in a Pediatric operating room/PACU/Procedural/Cath Lab setting
Previous work experience in a large academic medical center
Certification in nursing administration or clinical area is highly desired
Experience working in a union environment
