Nurse Practitioner Specialty

Location: Sarasota, FL

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm.

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy, providing various levels of flexibility while also ensuring that associates have opportunities to connect in-person. Unless in a designated virtual-eligible role and specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process.

The Nurse Practitioner Specialty is responsible for providing for the health care needs of patients in collaboration with the physician, through advanced assessment and identification of health states including abnormal conditions, diagnosing, treatment and evaluation. Performs care in a specialty area such as cardiology, pulmonology, etc.

How You Will Make an Impact

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards to provide direct clinical services for patients within prescribed guidelines and physician instructions.
  • Acts independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations.
  • Acquires patient health histories and evaluates patient, performing physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Discusses case with physician.
  • Formulates and documents care plan.
  • Prescribes medication or other forms of treatment.
  • Participates in On-Call program, which may include after-hours, weekend and holiday calls and visitations.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires an MS in Nursing and minimum of 3 years of related experience with clinical emphasis for nurse practitioner; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current unrestricted RN license and NP license in applicable state required.
  • For Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

Certification in a specialty or minimum of 1 year experience in a specialty area, such as cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, etc.
