We are looking for a Network Planning Engineer to join our Backbone planning team to build the planning systems to support the expansion of our global network. This is an ideal role for people that want to work on a purpose-built and ever expanding network that touches and changes the lives of billions for the better every day.

<ul><li>Own mission critical network planning systems and services such as short term and long term planning systems for Facebook's global backbone network</li><li>Partner with network planners to develop automation for planning the global network infrastructure</li><li>Design, develop, document, test, deploy and maintain large production services for planning systems at scale</li><li>Build dashboards, perform what-if analysis, and A|B tests to provide key insights on our hyper-growth network</li><li>Write and review code, develop documentation and network capacity plans, and debug the challenging problems, on some of the largest and most complex systems in the world</li></ul>

<ul><li>3+ years of coding experience in at least one programming language (e.g. PHP, Python, C++, or Java), and rapidly learning new development languages</li><li>3+ years of experience in building software components and services for reliable and high performance production systems</li><li>Experience learning and using new software, frameworks and APIs</li><li>Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Graduate work experience or MS in Computer Science</li><li>Experience building network planning systems for IP and Optical networks</li><li>Experience working on large scale distributed systems and improving system performance and reliability</li><li>Experience in Linux systems and TCP/IP network fundamentals (e.g. TCP, IP, IPV6, BGP)</li><li>Understanding of network infrastructure (e.g. routing and switching)</li></ul>
