Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our growing organization. In this position, you will be part of a MAG Engineering Team that plans, develops, analyzes, integrates, maintains, troubleshoots, and enhances large complex network communication systems consisting of routers, switches, firewalls, SATCOM and cellular equipment, tactical communications, mesh networks, servers, mini computers, etc. as well the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together. Daily customer interaction within government facilities will be typical.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Configure and troubleshoot routers, firewalls, switches, VoIP and DOD COMSEC devices including HAIPE KG-175D/G/X, as well as management platforms for these devices.
  • Assist with maintenance of testbed and test environment (network emulators, load generators and associated with equipment).
  • Write and/or review test plans, test procedures, installation procedures and perform testing. Validate network device (router, switch, firewall) configurations against STIG requirements, propose and implement fixes.
  • Travel to sites to install/configure/test upgrades.
  • Implement and troubleshoot connections to WAN services.
  • Provide technical support to process of service moves/adds and changes.
  • Engage with the vendor community to research solutions to new/ongoing challenges, communicate proposed solutions internally, and develop detailed specifications for purchases.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements

The position is contingent upon candidate's ability to meet physical and medical requirements as needed by the position; thereby, in accordance with Federal Requirements, medical requirements include but are not limited to full COVID-19 vaccination, except in limited circumstances where a candidate is legally entitled to an accommodation - proof of vaccination required.

Knowledge and Skills

The required skills and knowledge include:
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance required
  • Possess Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification, or Cisco CCNP certification and/or Network+ Certification CE
  • Possesses extensive working knowledge and experience in IP- and Ethernet-based protocols and communications systems
  • Ability to write clear and complete test and installation procedures
  • Experience with performing STIG validation or equivalent on network devices

The minimum years of related experience required: 6+ years of experience required

Education

The minimum level of education required is: Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required

Desired Requirements

The desired skills, knowledge, and education include:
  • Experience with implementing and troubleshooting the integration of network devices into a PKI for authenticating management and/or VPN access a plus
  • Experience with implementing and troubleshooting the integration of 802.1x and EAP in a wired access LAN a plus
  • Experience using and administering Solarwinds Orion network management tools a plus
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting HAIPE encryptors a plus
  • Basic Windows and/or Linux sysadmin skills a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with packet capture tools and protocol analysis a plus
  • Familiarity with SATCOM payload planning, monitoring and control systems a plus
  • Must be able to work in a lab or field environment
  • Minimum of 25% CONUS & OCONUS travel required
