A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking an exempt Director of Student Success on the Kirksville, Missouri, campus. The position reports to the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs. The Director of Student Success will support the academic progress of MOSDOH students and serve to support student progress to ensure academic success for all students enrolled in the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (Missouri Campus, St. Louis Clinic, and external sites).

Major Job Duties

  • Ensure student success in the pre-doctoral program and maintain and track academic progress throughout the four year curriculum.
  • Serve as liaison to the Office of Student Affairs to ensure students connect to the appropriate services (Enrollment Services, Student Resources, ADA Accommodations, Counseling, Admissions, student organizations, etc.)
  • Ensure student compliance with required documentation and serve as risk management at student events.
  • Assist the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs in accreditation activities, as required.
  • Track and support data management for MOSDOH assessment activities.
  • Serve as the MOSDOH COVID Compliance Officer.

Student Success & Academic Progress:
  • Identify at-risk students and meet regularly with them.
  • Maintain communication and open door policy with students.
  • Meet with students following the decisions of the APC to ensure compliance and continued success. Continue regular meetings until student is back on track.
  • Track student remediation plans in conjunction with course directors for various academic issues.
  • Liaison to CGHS for all items related to the certificate and master's programs in public health.
  • Write detailed communications, keep appropriate faculty and administration fully appraised, and maintain accurate files.
  • Assist the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs with revisions for the MOSDOH catalog and liaison to Student Life for University Handbook.
  • Coordinate and present student success guidelines during new student orientation.
  • Coordinate and present re-orientations for transfer students, students reentering after withdrawal, dismissal, or repeating a year at MOSDOH.
  • Track students who withdraw or are dismissed, and contact students approved to return to the program.
  • Serve as liaison and advisor to the Chair of the Academic Progress Committee (APC) to provide updates on student issues, concerns, and progress; attend all APC meetings.
  • Liaison on all student incidents reports; create reports, maintain documentation, and follow up on incidents; keep the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs apprised of all student incidents.
  • Track and support data management for MOSDOH assessment activities, such as the alumni, senior exit, and ADEA surveys.
  • Track all excused absences (D1-D4).
  • Student counseling or advising, education and higher education processes, and healthcare knowledge are preferable.
  • Assist students, including historically underrepresented student populations, and help them succeed on campus and display a broad-based knowledge of diverse populations with an emphasis on multicultural, LGBTQ+, underrepresented, and underserved populations of ethnic and racial cultures, faith traditions, and domestic and international communities.

Liaison to Student Affairs:
  • Act to resolve conflict, assess and administer the necessary proceedings for violations of the Student Code of Conduct (Academic, Behavioral and Professional).
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Services/Student Affairs regarding scholarship selection.
  • In collaboration with the faculty and administration, provide updates to the MOSDOH technical standards as needed.

Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Track and monitor all excused absences, withdrawals and dismissals (D1-D4).
  • Assure compliance and track immunization documentation in E*Value.
  • Track and report student COVID cases and follow up manage follow up.
  • Track background checks and personal health insurance requirements in E*Value.
  • Plan all CPR certification for all D1 and D2 students and track compliance in E*Value.
  • Provide risk management assessment for student events.
  • Maintain the disability policy/renewal for MOSDOH students.

CODA:
  • Coordinate, assemble and disseminate metrics for quality improvement and program tracking and development across organized areas within the school.
  • Monitor and track student progress in the Integrated National Board of Dental Examiners (INBDE) exams.
  • Meet with students to develop a plan of action following any board failures.
  • Provide data for the Strategic Outcomes annual meeting.
  • Generate reports as required by the Dean, Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs and other administrators as needed.

Other duties as assigned:
  • Travel ~2x/month to St. Louis Clinic for monitoring services to students & staff
  • Travel to professional conferences as needed
  • Travel for recruitment activities as needed
  • Coordinate student events (New Student Orientation (Kirksville & St. Louis), White Coat Ceremony, D2 Send off. Support Dean’s Welcome Event and the other activities as needed
  • Liaison to Institutional Advancement regarding alumni events
  • Participate on university and college committees as assigned
  • Advisor to the MOSDOH classes as assigned
  • Advisor to the MOSDOH Student Leadership Council
  • Update the Student Success portion of the Student Portal as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs

Skills/Requirements
  • Masters degree in student services, higher education, or counseling
  • Knowledge of student counseling or advising
  • Knowledge of education and higher education laws, regulations, and processes
  • Student development theory
  • Knowledge of healthcare is preferable
  • Computer skills – including social networking and internet based education
