Responsibilities:
· Be responsible for ensuring monitoring systems are workingoptimally and in production as well as lower environments
· Administer, monitor, and maintain Elasticsearch instances
· Define metrics and KPIs for system and application monitoring
· Analyze performance results to identify issues and suggestoptimizations
· Ensure monitoring systems are sending appropriate and actionablealerts and notifications
· Develop dashboards for visualization and analysis in Kibana andGrafana
· Develop Logstash pipelines for feeding key metrics and log datainto Elasticsearch
· Ensure incident management systems, and their integrations withalerting systems, are functioning and tuned properly
· Develop and document periodic review procedures for ensuring thehealth of systems and applications
· Assist in the administration of network monitoring systems
· Document and train administrators on procedures and maintenanceof the above
· Automate additional routine tasks where possible
· Recommend process improvements to increase operationalefficiency
· Exemplify a culture of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
· 2 years of experience administering Elasticsearch/ELK
· 4 years of experience administering network monitoring systemssuch as Nagios, Solarwinds, etc
· Strong familiarity with the key performance indicators of bothon-premise and cloud servers and applications
· Fluency with basic networking concepts
· Comfortable in Windows and Linux environments
· Strong ability to diagnose and resolve computer system andoperational issues
· A passion for automation and efficiency
· A desire to teach and to learn
· Self-motivated and independent. Able to drive projects tocompletion with minimal supervision
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability torelay complex topics to both technical and non-technical team members
· BS/BA degreecompleted or in the works (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Business/CIS orrelated) or relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
· 3 years of experience administering Elasticsearch/ELK
· 6 years of strong experience administering network monitoringand alerting systems
· Proficiency with one or more programming languages
· Proficiency with one or more scripting languages
· Experience with LogicMonitor
· Experience with Ansible
· Experience with Python
· Experience with PagerDuty
· Experience with VictorOps / Splunk OnCall
· Familiarity with Java virtual machine monitoring
