Location: Newark, NJ
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Mid Shift Registered Nurse

Shift: Monday-Friday, Mid Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

As a Registered Nurse in our correctional healthcare team, you will play an integral role in conducting thorough assessments of inmate patients across various institutional settings. From initial intake areas to emergency situations, you will ensure continuity, timeliness, and appropriateness of care. Additionally, your focus on maintaining precise and comprehensive medical records will be crucial, ensuring documentation adheres to SOAP format and accurately reflects the therapeutic order.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive assessments of inmate patients in diverse settings, such as intake areas, health care units for the sick, emergency housing units, chronic care clinics, and medical units.
• Collaborate closely with primary care providers and healthcare professionals, promoting seamless continuity and appropriateness of care for inmate patients.
• Maintain meticulous and organized Medical Record documentation in SOAP format, reflecting the therapeutic order accurately.
• Record all care information in a legible, concise, accurate, and timely manner, using appropriate forms and formats.
• Administer medications, therapeutic agents, and treatments, ensuring coordination and accurate documentation.
• Report treatment and medication reactions, as well as any changes in inmates' emotional or physical conditions.
• Provide inmate patient education and contribute to discharge planning processes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state where the facility is located.
• Possession of a current CPR/BLS card.
• A minimum of one year of RN experience.
• Prior experience in a correctional healthcare environment is highly preferred.
