The Role
This position is for a Manager Engineer 2 position to support CVN Ship Alteration and Nuclear Liaison Management. The candidate will lead a group of individuals supporting the scheduling, development and issuance of all CVN Ship Alteration and Nuclear Liaison Inquiry products to include Ship Modification Drawings, Ship Modification Instructions and ShipAlt Cross Reference Parts Lists. This team also helps to coordinate any potential shipchecks required to support ship modifications.
The individual will provide leadership and direction for this team, will be asked to challenge the "status quo:, and will establish and execute effective work processes and procedures. The selected candidate will support the development of reports and presentations detailing the products that the Planning Yards issue and will have responsibility for coordinating and developing cost projections for future Ship Alteration work. External contacts will include NAVSEA, NNL, Ship's Force, and Naval shipyard personnel.
Other daily responsibilities include managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritizing work to meet schedule, cost and quality objectives.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design OR Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
