BACKGROUND

PRIMARY JOB OBJECTIVE

The Meteorologist I will produce forecast products for all corporate, sports, utility and government clients and provide forecast support for the same. Tasks include monitoring current weather situations and formulating client specific forecasts using the full range of meteorological tools. The Meteorologist will also be part of the overall meteorological team that supports all products and services throughout the company. This includes editorial production as well as product development and marketing assistance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce forecast products (text and graphic) for a wide variety of government and professional service clients - banking, sports, utilities, energy, etc.
  • Produce custom forecasts based on client needs
  • Provide customer phone support
  • Produce unique weather news reports and content
  • Support company meteorological operations
  • Quality control data
  • Produce social media content
  • Position requires afternoon, evening, overnight and weekend shift work
  • Will lead to additional responsibilities and growth opportunities

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE
  • B.S. in Meteorology or equivalent
  • 1-3+ years operational forecast experience
  • Experience providing forecast support for professional services clients
  • Experience in a 24/7 shift environment
  • Experience giving forecast phone support
  • Proven forecast experience using a wide array of NWS data, products and tools.
  • Proven experience using numerical prediction models for short, medium and long-range forecasting.
  • Utility, Sports and Corporate forecast experience a plus
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & ATTRIBUTES
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Ability to write meteorological content and verbally express forecasts and content to the general public
  • Reliable, punctual, and a self-starter
  • Open to working varying hours and shifts outside of the regular shift defined should weather and staffing dictate changes

Additional Information:
  • This is a remote opportunity based in the continental United States.
  • You must be eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position
