Overview

The Merchandising Artist supports the Knights Apparel Graphic Design Team through the creation of graphic oriented collateral. These tools include customized sketches, namedrops packages, garment collections and four-way fixture presentation boards etc. May do light design work and/or heavily modified art conversions (of established graphics) dependent on team needs. Artist must be knowledgeable of screen print, embroidery, applique and other special processes offered within each line.

Responsibilities

• Must have a strong knowledge of screen print, embroidery, applique and all other special processes. Build and maintain full knowledge of ink, thread, and twill color palettes, codes and standards.
• Build a strong working knowledge of garment lines, styles & colors, as well as art placements and decoration codes.
• Build customized graphic and garment packages as assigned in SKOR system. Read and interpret requests, following directions given and may also have to work independently with no specific direction. Produce custom designs as specified to product/style, decoration process, graphic concept and licensing guidelines.
• Follows brand standards, licensing guidelines, garment specifications, and manufacturing requirements; building a garment decoration that will experience success in the marketplace.
• Works directly with sales reps through SKOR and licensors, to refine and edit art files as needed.
• Works with Graphic Services to build color separation files which are used for producing screens.
• Support creative design and production associated with seasonal lines, ensuring that all graphics are completed according to established policies and procedures and on time.
• Convert seasonal sample art for seasonal catalogs, working with internal catalog team.
• Hang and organize samples as they arrive. Pull and organize sample files, information and CADs for weekly sample review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or equivalent industry related experience
• 1-2 years of experience in the field is required
• Mastery of Macintosh computer and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator)
• Understanding of basic graphic art concepts such as composition, color relationships, and balance
