Your new company
I'm currently partnered with an open shop General Contractor and Construction Management firm who specialize in large-scale and high-rise developments, complex renovations and build-outs of sustainable and uniquely designed spaces. Based in New York City and founded over 20 years ago, this firm provides construction management at-risk, design-assist and advisory services.

Your new role
They are looking for a MEPS Estimator to join their pre-construction team managing all aspects of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems for a range of construction projects.

Your essential functions will include the following:

  • Analyze construction drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present, specific to MEPS systems.
  • Aid in developing full-scope cost estimates based on proposal documentation on a variety of bid contracts for various public and private clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing and Fire Protection systems
  • Develop an estimate for conceptual, schematic and design development states of pre-construction by soliciting specific pricing from vendors and/or sub-contractors.
  • Assist in project scheduling.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs.
  • Produce an accurate estimate of labor, material, equipment, subcontractors and general conditions specifically for MEPS packages from conceptual design through to completion.
  • Preliminary design work may be required to complete conceptual estimates.
  • Knowledge of NYC building codes.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this MEPS Estimating role you should have at least 5+ years' experience working within a specialty Mechanical / Electrical or Plumbing contractor or General Contractor where you have specialized in MEP packages for construction projects here in New York City or throughout the 5 boroughs.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field from an accredited institution and 5 years estimating & cost control related experience.
  • Ability to estimate all MEPS trades.
  • Ability to develop conceptual plans and budgets.
  • Must be able to efficiently multi-task.
  • Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and meet them.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and technically sound with good communication skills.
  • A Strong work ethic is a must.
