The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is located in the Southwestern Alaska town of Bethel, with a total of approximately 6,000 people. YKHC supports 1500 employees, providing the health services to a primarily Yup'ik Eskimo Native population for an area the size of Oregon. Services are provided through a Bethel located hospital and 50 clinics throughout the YK Delta.

Position Summary:
Plans and organizes activities of the Medical Staff in accordance with Joint Commission, state and federal regulations and established policies and procedures. Plans, organizes and controls training to assist Medical Staff and its subordinate committees in understanding and using the credentialing and privileging process. Acts as a liaison between Medical Staff and Administration within parameters established by Clinical Operations Manager and Chief of Staff.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or at least two years healthcare related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Valid State of Alaska Driver's License or ability to acquire driver's license. Preferred, but not required: Certification as a Certified Provider of Credentialing Services "CPCS". If not certified at time of hiring, employee will become certified within 4 years of date of hire. Preferred successful completion of Medical Terminology course or ability to take within first year of hire.
  • Equipment/Tools: Ability to use the computer and general office equipment.
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
    • Significant experience with data entry & database management; using word processing software, Excel, Power Point, E-mail, Web searches, graphs & charts.
    • Experience taking meeting minutes and writing summary reports.
    • Ability to operate photocopy machine, fax machine, and shredder.
    • Ability to file and proofread documents. Excellent human relations skills and oral/written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate events and complete multiple tasks within limited constraints; to research information; to communicate effectively in oral/written form; have knowledge and familiarity with word processing, Governing Body functions, knowledge of YKHC policies and procedures.
