Overview:

Gibbs & Cox, Inc. is the nation's leading independent maritime services, naval architecture, marine engineering, and design firm. We are seeking a well-qualified individual for a position as the company's Test Engineering Department Manager, based in any office, but the Arlington, VA office is preferred.

You must be a United States citizen with a Secret Clearance to qualify.

Responsibilities:

G&C is seeking a Mechatronics Department Manager that is a qualified, energetic leader to lead the solution development of autonomous systems and associated payload subsystems, and integration of those systems with other manned and unmanned maritime platforms. Current and future projects span concept developed through prototype development and production of small, medium and large unmanned surface vessels.

Personal Attributes:

The successful candidate for Mechatronics Department Manager must be an individual that possesses the following attributes:

  • Leadership with great communication skills
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechatronics engineers including electrical, mechanical, and marine engineers as assigned
  • Serve as member of a leadership team leading where you will collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, agile delivery teams and other software engineers
  • Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks.
  • Responsible for leading the control and electrical system design, installation, and test for unmanned surface vessels
  • Responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff.

Minimum requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering or other engineering discipline and 15+ years functional experience requirements traceability, system-of-systems integration and testing, test planning, development and execution testing. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience reading and developing electrical schematics, including one-line diagrams
  • Experience with unmanned surface vessel machinery control system design, development, and installation
  • Must possess an active SECRET Security clearance.
