Basic Job Functions:

The ideal candidate will be a creative, process-minded, effective communicator.

The responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer will include but not limited to:

  • Providing technical support for maintenance and operations
  • Design and implement innovative solutions to enhance production
  • Design and troubleshoot mechanical components and systems
  • Perform mechanical analysis on various systems and write mechanical specifications and documentation.
  • Manage capital projects
  • Seek out and implement process improvement projects across the production site
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and two years of relevant work experience or five years of relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree
  • Project Management experience including creating budgets, timelines, material and service specifications, and resource coordination
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification
  • PE Certification
  • Experience with machine design using electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Process Automation and Control technologies
  • Experience in melting / casting operations, and/or rolling mill operations
