Summary

The Sales Representative is a skilled position requiring the effective management of assigned product line(s) of, Hot Mix Asphalt, Aggregates, or Ready Mix as determined by Manager, for sales and customer service to various types of customers. The qualified individual should increase sales by being customer oriented, assertive, well organized, and goal oriented. Relationship skills are critical to this position with the ability to work with internal and external clients at all levels in an organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive leadership to ensure the safety culture of the company continues to grow by efficiently managing company external sales. Collaborates with the local Safety and Environmental Departments to maintain a safe working environment that complies with company standards, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Daily use of CRM (Salesforce)
  • Develop and maintain effective relationship with key accounts, ensuring customer expectations are met through proactive problem identification and resolution strategies.
  • Actively collaborate with all Operating Company (OpCo) Lines of Business (LOB'S) to maximize vertical integration and company sales opportunities.
  • Provide sales leadership in assigned area to become the "go to" individual for all sales related issues for both internal and external customers.
  • Increase sales volume for company's products and services, while maintaining sales expense budget.
  • Work closely with OpCo VP/GM(s) to developing sales and marketing programs to effectively and efficiently reach sales goals.
  • Responsible for identifying and meeting needs of potential customers.
  • Will create accurate bids and proposals according to customers' needs as well as bid specifications.
  • Being able to read and interpret blue prints and plans is beneficial.
  • Will verify sales tickets and pricing for customers.
  • Develop plan for own annual performance review with OpCo VP/GM(s) assistance.
  • Keep up-to-date on product changes, selling strategies, competitive methods, expense control, etc.
  • Manage administrative duties to include full detailed reports and status updates meeting established deadlines and objectives.
  • Actively participate in Region, Division, or National Performance teams as required.
  • Establish annual sales projections by product and recommend sales programs to reach sales projections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Sales/Marketing position or equivalent position with a customer service focus.
  • Previous experience in construction sales is strongly preferred.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Residency within assigned territory is a requirement.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Valid Drivers license, safe driving record and newer reliable vehicle.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Highly developed oral, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Demonstrate effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software package.
  • Ability to make presentations in front of many people.
  • Ability to effectively work with customers, employees, and suppliers.
  • Ability to provide and understand detailed information.
  • Ability to analyze issues independently.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
