Purpose and Scope:

Manages resources to meet departmental goals. Priorities include safety, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement activities. Identifies bottle necks, and allocate resources accordingly. Is organized and tracks to priorities well. Proven leadership qualities and has the ability to motivate and empower the team. Mechanically inclined with problem solving attributes. Follows processes and adheres to strict quality standards. Reports to the Production Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Establish a safety culture where the goal is to prevent all injuries
  • Drives continuous improvement activities with Engineering team to improve quality and productivity
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Participates with capital expense planning in order to increase department efficiencies
  • Manage expense budgets, staffing, overtime, and production output/quality
  • Drive problem solving by drilling down to identify root causes and implement countermeasures in order to continuously improve.
  • Develop and execute training and development plans for team
  • Writes and conducts performance appraisals per company standards
  • Plays a role in hiring, and disciplinary activities in regards to subordinates
  • Works with the calibration department to ensure tool conformity
  • Ensures machine Automated Maintenance (AM) is performed daily on machine equipment
  • Conducts 6S audits
  • Approves time, attendance, and PTO requests
  • Works with quality and engineering to resolve quality issues. This could include being assigned Corrective Action Requests (CAR)


Required Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, and Industrial Engineering knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or at least 10 years’ equivalent Supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of Lean or 6 Sigma manufacturing principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position
  • Ability to work well with others; including all levels of the organization and as an active member on cross-functional teams.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen


Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or Industrial Engineering
  • Machining experience is preferred
  • Aerospace experience
  • Experience leading teams
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
