Your role:

Manage and coordinate department personnel, inventory and capital resources to assist manufacturing of products. Coordinate department activities to meet customer demands and company goals. Develop subordinates' knowledge and skills to improve performance and expand department abilities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure that personnel, equipment and raw materials are used as efficiently as possible to maintain research product quality and service levels.
  • Coordinate the selection, training, development, motivation and evaluation of employees within the department. Guide, motivate and develop supervisors within the department and provide overall guidance of personnel development within the department.
  • Provide strong avenue of communication for employees maintaining a foundation of Respect and Dignity and emphasizing company values. Include in the communications information to effectively operate the department and to support the company objectives is communicated.
  • Oversee development and improvement of the department's abilities, technology, methods and equipment.
  • Ensure that operations are carried out in compliance with all government regulations and company policy or procedures
  • Plan for short-term and long-term response to customer needs and company goals.

Who you are:

Required qualifications:
  • BS in chemistry, chemical engineering or related technical field with special course in area of expertise
  • Desired: M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry or related technical field; lean - six sigma training, MBA
  • Requires 7+ years technical production, supervisory and leadership experience.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Proficient in safe processing techniques and pertinent OSHA, EPA, FDA regulations
  • Deep knowledge of technical production issues in the areas of chemistry, biology and biochemistry
  • Basic chemistry and science principles
  • Knowledge of organiziation's systems, policies and customs
  • Knowledge of various relevant processing techniques and equipment
  • Ability to manage, motivate and develop employees
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership
  • Excellent communications skills including writing and oral, ability to communicate with various disciplines and levels both one-on-one and group communication
  • Management skills such as coaching and teaching
  • Organizational skills including delegation, decision making, and team building
  • Knowledge of Process Improvement methodology
