We are looking for a Manufacturing Leader II for our Heavy Industrial Business team. This role will require a balanced approach to strengthen both Associate engagement (promoting development, performance accountability, and recognition) and operational efficiency across the team.

Ways you will have an impact in this role:

People Leadership: Provide operational leadership for the team (7 direct/41 indirect permanent and temporary associates) across three shifts by translating the overall company objectives into department activities that their team must perform to be successful, including associate selection, training, coaching, development, conflict resolution, planning, performance management/accountability, and recognition. Foster a positive climate and safe working environment that promotes associate well-being and team effectiveness across the organization and Hypertherm for improved business results. Builds organizational capability by developing associates, establishing mentors, and training.

Support for Operations: Translate the overall company objectives into a production plan for the team. Set an example in promptness, attendance, and commitment to the team's success by modeling visibility and being present and available to Front Line Leaders in their quest to achieve their production targets. Work with Front Line Leaders to develop the "game plan" for achieving production targets for the week/month and assist the Leaders in successfully executing the plan.

Continuous Improvement: Lead ongoing improvement strategies for the value stream via a structured approach that engages the team and helps them learn key continuous improvement skills

Safety: Create a culture of safety holding associates accountable for safe working practices. Work with engineers on safety incident resolution proactively mitigates safety concerns and contributes to EHS policy

Quality: Track metrics and execute processes to identify quality issues. Support our quality culture and implements corrective actions that improve quality performance.

Capacity and Planning: Collaborates to provide input on production plans and looks at broader capacity needs. Enact plans to address shortages. Work with Category Managers and Master Schedulers to address potential material shortages in the production process.

Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with leaders and technical teams to develop an annual operating plan aligned with the team's business plan. Communicate to the team and incorporates strategies, objectives, and goals into the team and individual personal plans. Continually monitor and take corrective actions as necessary to exceed expectations for quality, delivery, performance, and value at the lowest possible cost.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Behaviors:
  • Associates degree with 7+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to regularly work across multiple shifts
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Project Management experience
  • Intermediate computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with intermediate presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply lean manufacturing principles
  • Data and financial analytical skills


Preferred experience:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Green belt certification
  • Microsoft Access
  • Microsoft Query
  • Pivot tables
  • Minitab
  • ERP experience
  • CNC experience
