Job Information

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for leading the deployment of a lean-based production system throughout NA (North America) sites, as well as direct improvements to the site(s) supported. This is carried out through site assessments and improvement roadmaps that improve and stabilize the site KPIs long-term. This individual leads resources throughout the site, region, and globe to ensure that the production system is effectively deployed to drive results in site and organizational KPIs.

Role & Responsibility

Production System Deployment:

• Lead production system assessments, and improvement planning, and drive results aligned to level goals at the site(s)
• Production system/module deployment and improvement execution to drive results aligned to DBPS improvement plans at the site(s)
• Serve as subject-matter expert (SME) for lean-based production system; specific modules + system overall
• Support site and regional production system leadership to achieve results
• Identify engagement and improvement gaps, acting to close
• Lead and develop regional systems to deploy production system

Site KPI Support:

• Lead efforts to ensure that gaps in site KPIs are closed through both short-term and long-term projects and plans
• Identify and prioritize projects and Kaizens tied to key strategic initiatives for the organization, leading or resourcing as appropriate
• Support site leadership and other team/site resources to achieve results in site KPIs

Standards and Training:

• Develop regional OPEX/TQM standards and training
• Develop and execute a training strategy to support production system deployment throughout the organization, for both salaried and hourly employees, that delivers clear business results, both short- and long-term
• Develop, deliver, and improve training/tools, including lean, DMAIC, Six Sigma, A3, PDCA, and other problem-solving and production-system-specific content or tools
• Coach and mentor others to progress through projects and Kaizens aligned to appropriate improvement methodology (direct reports and other resources)

Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Experience Preferred Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, or equivalent (Lean-based)
  • Travel Required: 10-24%
  • Experience Required: 3+ Years
  • Global Breadth: North America
  • Production system deployment experience is a plus (automotive is preferred)
  • Experience in developing standards (quality, engineering, lean, or similar)
  • Experience in Lean and Six Sigma implementation is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and listening skills
  • Strong performer; highly driven
  • Ability to make sound, timely decisions
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills and priority focus
  • Strong demonstrated ability to influence and achieve results
  • Strong process orientation to develop solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to train Lean Six Sigma processes and tools (lean, A3, PDCA, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt)
  • Demonstrated ability to execute promptly and achieve results
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and demands
  • Prior experience with manufacturing processes
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams, resource management, and project management is desirable
