Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement in all the plant's core processes by leading, training, and coaching teams in the application of manufacturing excellence tools such as lean manufacturing, six-sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies This position will also support the fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly systems along with their associated tooling.

Essential Functions:

1. Serve as facility expert, trainer, coach, leader in the effective application of lean/six sigma tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Line operations balancing, Kaizen, Poke-Yoke, Process Capability, SMED, Kanban, etc.

2. Provide detailed, fact-based recommendation of potential projects that will deliver the most positive and lasting impact to the operation based on overall facility performance, strategy, financial, and AOP requirements.

3. Ensure the project plans effectively drive the overall success of the projects.

4. Champion individual projects from CER through to shop floor implementation ensuring that the projects capture financial improvements that translate to bottom-line impact.

5. Provide subject matter expertise in identifying key talent and building teams for each project.

6. Lead teams in the creation of a clear charter for each project with quantifiable and measurable metrics for success. Hold teams accountable to those metrics.

7. Lead, train, and coach team in the use of the relevant manufacturing excellence improvement tools to drive the project towards achieving the documented goals.

8. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure successful transition, implementation, and long-term sustainability of the improvements.

9. Work with new product/process division, plant, cross-location, and cross-divisional launch teams to improve the effectiveness of the AQP process, implementing lean/six sigma tools such that the changes drive positive momentum in plant and division metrics.

10. Work directly with all process owners to drive the facility key metrics/scorecards in positive direction.

11. Manage the engineering design process, installation, PPAP, and long-term technical support of the manufacturing process while meeting quality, capability, cost, and time targets.

12. Coordinate the installation of new production processes in the facility required to produce the trailer products.

13. Assure that all applicable quality standards are met in the introduction of trailer products.

Education and Training

• BS/BA Degree in engineering required.

• Six-sigma certification a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in a related field

• Hands-on experience in tooling, fixturing, and methods is required.

• Experience in CNC or PLC programming is strong positive.

• Demonstrated leadership experience by coordinating and or facilitating successful operational improvement teams.

• Proven experience utilizing lean manufacturing techniques and principles.

• Highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all employees.

• Significant project management experience is required.
