Are you our next Manager, Water Planning and Operations?

This role will manage the planning and operations support team that provides water-management related technical leadership for Mosaic's North America phosphate business, inclusive of all mining and manufacturing activities in Florida and Louisiana.

Provide subject matter expertise and technical leadership to the broader business unit to support development and maintenance of a comprehensive water management strategy and continuous improvement initiatives that leverage technology to reduce risk and drive efficiency in the business.

Support the identification, development, and implementation of innovative technologies and strategies to modernize and streamline how the business plans, monitors, reports, and manages water at the facility level. This role closely collaborates with facility and functional support teams to ensure that water management objectives, operational goals, and environmental risks are properly identified, communicated, and managed in a balanced manner.

What will you do?

  • Provide technical leadership to the team responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating the comprehensive water management plan for all Florida mining facilities (active and idle). This role also provides leadership to development and submittal of regulatory reports for water inventory management (stormwater certification) to various agencies as needed.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating the comprehensive water management plan for all concentrate facilities in Florida and Louisiana (active and idle). This role also provides leadership to development and submittal of regulatory reports for water inventory / gypsum stack management to various agencies as needed.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership teams and functional support teams in the identification and balanced management of water supply, water inventories and environmental risks. Identify and provide visibility and focus on key water issues and strategic initiatives such as Mosaic's sustainability goals (freshwater use reduction).
  • Coordinate the timely development and two-way communication of planning information between the Water Strategy team, operations teams, and functional support teams. This role supports overall water team's goals on achieving minimum inventory.
  • Provide leadership in identifying, developing, and implementing innovative technologies and strategies to modernize and streamline how the business plans, monitors, reports, and manages water.
  • Provide work direction to the team as well as timely and constructive feedback to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles, business goals and performance standards. Manage performance issues when necessary. Develop and coach employees to retain and grow organizational talent. Support employees in their career development at Mosaic.

What do you need for this role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mining, or related) and 8+ years related experience in utilizing engineering principles and technology to assess and manage water-related risks and challenges.
  • Familiarity with regulatory programs and processes associated with industrial water management.
  • Demonstrated application of statistical evaluation techniques to assess and develop risk management strategies.
  • Project management and technical leadership experience.
  • Microsoft Suite with advanced Excel capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge of ESRI, GIS processing and customization skills, preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of contemporary Hydrologic and Hydraulic Stormwater models.
  • Development and implementation of water balance models and processes.
  • Experience with field instrumentation data collection, automation, and processing.
  • Functional knowledge of statistics and risk management applications.
  • Ability to lead and develop technical staff.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate to multi-disciplinary audience.
  • Professional Engineer, preferred
  • Advanced understanding of contemporary H&H Models including knowledge of Interconnected Channel and Pond Routing (ICPR), MODFLOW, MIKE SHE and similar is preferred.
