The Danville manufacturing facility is part of Mohawk's Wood & Laminate division. We are a leader in the design, development, manufacturing and delivery of high performance wood flooring. The plant currently has approximately 60 employees and is experiencing rapid growth. To support that growth, we are very enthusiastic about developing and bringing on new talent. As a member of the Danville leadership team, reporting to the Plant Manager, you will completely own the machining production operation. In this manufacturing process we cut, machine, surface finish, box and palletize our beautiful high performance wood products - at high speed and high precision.

In your role, you provide performance leadership and process expertise to achieve operational excellence. As a self-driven manager, you will be coaching a team of 5-6 team members to become a high performance team. Together with your team you own the successful delivery of defined KPI's for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. You are a disciplined continuous improvement leader and coach in managing for daily improvement. To realize your objectives, you will need to demonstrate clear and effective communication and collaborate well with your peers and Plant Maintenance team. You are a proactive leader, who anticipates roadblocks and informs the Plant Manager of possible bottlenecks and actions to overcome. You will need to fully understand the production process to the greatest details - both the chemistry and down to the nuts and bolts of the equipment and automation. As a process specialist, you have a passion for tinkering and diving into the technical details, and love to share those learnings with your teams. Although you like to be hands-on with your teams,you are also a great organizer and structured in root cause analysis and reporting. You use facts and data for your decision making and motivation of making process changes. You don't shy away to bringing change on the floor and for holding people accountable for operational discipline. Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of HR policies, practices and procedures as it relates to employee relations, hiring, terminations, benefit and compensation plans and administrative guidelines.
  • Ability and willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions; ability to persuade, market and sell new ideas; ability to work in a high-pressure environment and exercise good judgment to resolve problems in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent Human Resource management skills to effectively lead and direct a diverse work group.
  • Achieves results through team effort and through motivating, persuading and directing the activities of others.

Other Pertinent Job Information:
  • Must be able to walk long distances, climb on machinery and stand for long periods of time.
  • Bending, crouching and stooping may be required.
  • Must also be able to work in non-climate controlled facilities.
  • Work environment is a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends and holidays.
