WHAT YOU WILL DO AT SAPUTO

The Maintenance Manager provides leadership and direction to plant maintenance function of a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws. May directly supervise employees or supervise through others.

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the plant's maintenance department & maintenance personnel (i.e. mechanics, scheduler). Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the maintenance mechanics, scheduler and the department as a whole.
  • Develop and implement the plant's repair and maintenance budget and monitor cost relative to equipment repairs. Assist the Plant Manager in development and implementation of the plant capital budget.
  • Develop and administer aspects of the plant's safety programs, conduct safety training and enforce safe working practices at all times.
  • Schedule labor to meet plant and equipment requirements while assigning responsibilities and managing and supporting maintenance personnel as needed. Create a spirit of customer service to the entire facility.
  • Diagnose, develop and implement methods and procedures to ensure most effective utilization of resources and provide best service to the facility.
  • Actively participate with operations in plant initiatives. Ensure all mechanical, electrical, electronic and structural repair and improvements are performed to industry standards.
  • Ensure that all utilities (i.e. refrigeration, electrical, steam, compressed air systems, facilities, etc.) are in proper working order to support production. Troubleshoot machinery and process systems in the event of breakdowns and analyze the down time's impact on operations.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and repair work.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal customers and support teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, consultants, suppliers, support teams and plant personnel.
  • Remain current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
  • Ensure corporate policies and standards are followed in both capital project implementation as well as daily maintenance.
  • Share "best practices" within the Maintenance Department.
  • Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


WHO IS RIGHT FOR THE ROLE
  • Prefer a four-year degree in a related field, and/or equivalent experience in maintenance in the cheese/dairy industry.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a supervisory/management role is preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate maintenance/production/packaging processes and determine the most efficient method of accomplishing goals.
  • Ability to identify, define, and solve problems; lead, influence and inspire people; evaluate and develop employees in order to better utilize the available workforce; and promote quality, safety, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, various shifts and weekends as needed beyond regular schedule.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Programmable Logic Controllers, Auto Cad Software, project & manufacturing software.
  • Strong leadership (coach, influence, motivate, develop, engage & retain employees), time/change management, multi-tasking, prioritizing, verbal/written communication, and organizational skills. Strong customer and quality focus and act as a team player to work across multiple functions to define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation procedures. and leading safety policies.
  • Ability to understand cost containment and budgetary principles.
