Job Summary

This position is the local representative for the Maine Natural Gas Corporation responsible for coordinating communication, work and responsibilities between Gas Operations, Gas Engineering, Customer Service, Regulatory, Gas Supply and Avangrid Service functions to meet the strategic goals of Maine Natural Gas. This position will interface with regulatory agencies, state government and municipalities.

Major Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and Represents Maine Natural Gas in ongoing legislative initiatives, the annual compliance filings, cost of gas adjustment filing, and other compliance filings that may evolve. Acts as a liaison between engineering, operations and the project management organization to meet the strategic goals approved by the Maine Natural Gas Board of Directors.
  • Oversees the maintenance and upgrades of Maine Natural Gas's IT and OIT systems.
  • Ensures the development and submission of the Annual Compliance filings and cost of gas adjustment with the Maine Public Utilities commission's maximizing the utilization of internal and external crew resources
  • Oversees the development and authorizes all Maine Natural Gas tariff updates
  • Oversees MNG IT and OIT systems, working with Avangrid IT for integration of these systems in future rate cases.
  • Provides biannual business updates to the Maine Natural Gas Board of Directors
  • Promote collaboration and continuous communication between Engineering, Operations, Customer Service and Projects including identifying customer growth opportunities.
  • Represents Maine Natural Gas before various governmental and or regulatory entities. Reviews state and federal legislative bills working with legislative affairs to coordinate company responses with other departments.
  • Participate in monthly regulatory earnings meetings and provide feedback\direction to other business units to ensure MNG is in compliance with existing rate plan.


Job Requirements

Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 10 years' supervisory and/or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of company, federal and state safety and compliance policies and procedures preferred
  • Demonstrated utilization of technology to improve business processes
  • Prior management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating across organizational lines
  • Experience leading implementation of initiatives
  • Understanding of utility operations and customer interaction preferred
  • Direct experience in business case development and benefits capture
  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of strategic objectives

  • Energizing leader that possesses strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills, be detail-oriented, thorough and results focused.
  • Adept at putting together business cases to support project and program objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills.

  • Ensure controls are in place to drive quality through all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptive, flexible and willing to step up to take on tasks beyond a job description as required.
  • Lead the development of organizational metrics and reporting Frameworks.
  • Drive a practice of continuous improvement - using data to identify new solutions and drive constant efficiency improvements.
  • Proven track record of being a strong team player with a results-oriented attitude.
  • Utilization of risk management to ensure achievement of results.
  • Proven ability to work within a matrix environment, including geographically dispersed teams.
