Responsibilities

This position will provide support to the AVANGRID Financial Planning & Investments Director
across the Control organization. The job involves frequent interaction and coordination with Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Business Analysis and Performance, Networks and Renewables Controllers, Corporate Development and IBERDROLA Corporate Control. The position requires a strong specialization in finance, valuation techniques and a good understanding of the Renewable energy and utility regulated markets.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate the analysis of all the Investment proposals submitted for approval in Avangrid in application of the Investment Standard.
• Ensure all investment proposals are appropriately documented to support decision making by AGR senior management
• Provide guidance regarding financial valuation, economic analysis and modeling to both regulated and non-regulated affiliates (Investment sponsors) as needed
• Act as a liaison with Avangrid and Iberdrola finance teams on the activities previously described
• Provide accurate, timely and insightful accounting and financial analysis and coordinate communication of conclusions to AGR and IBE Control teams
• Undertake ongoing monitoring of investments to ensure compliance with Long Term plan and approvals
• Support the preparation of the long term financial projections for Investors, rating agencies and Group consolidation.
• Develop and maintain complex business financial models to be used for strategic planning, budgeting and long-term forecasting
• Provide meaningful and timely explanation of forecast and recommendations to minimize risks
• Maintain a solid understanding of specific accounting and regulatory treatment
• Assist in the preparation of analyses and reports for AGR Control, Iberdrola Control and AGR Committees and Boards, which provide an independent view of the risks and earnings/profitability volatility inherent in all investment plans, budgets and forecasts
• Support the Financial planning & Investments - Director, AVANGRID Controllers and senior management, by undertaking ad-hoc project activities, utilizing business knowledge, and present recommendations to enable senior management to take appropriate action
• Support the analysis and valuation of both non-organic growth opportunities, such as potential future Company acquisitions and divestments
• Lead/support efforts to enhance accuracy and efficiency by developing, and implementing systems/processes

Core competencies include detailed understanding or extensive experience with:
• Investment and project lifecycles
• Double entry process, income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows statement
• Investment appraisal process (what costs and benefits are relevant, including net present value, discounted cash flow, and internal rate of return)
• Preparing project and company level financial statement forecasts
• Component cost elements of a typical project budget

Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Required:
• Bachelors' Degree required with minimum of 8+ years' experience in industry or role relevant to job requirements
• CFA, MBA or Master Degree with Finance emphasis preferred
• Expert knowledge in Corporate Finance, mainly finance and enterprise valuation techniques
• Strong financial modeling skills with demonstrated proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets
• Understanding of energy markets, specifically as it relates to Renewables and power regulated utilities
• Exposure to IFRS Accounting and experience with data analytics tools (Alteryx, Power BI, Microstrategy, or similar) a plus

Skills/Abilities:
• Strong financial modeling skills of financial statements including income statement, cash flow and balance sheet
• Knowledge of financial metrics principles, purchase price allocation and valuation methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others as well as operate with a minimum of supervision
• Confidence to challenge/question where appropriate
• Sound organizational and time management skills

    Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties. This is applicable to employees that will work in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York within AVANGRD Network and Corporate functions. This does not include those that will work for Avangrid Renewables
