Position Title: Manager - Facilities and Operations

Department: Facilities Operations - West Campus

Starting Rate: Band 6 - $59,500 - $75,900

Closed Date: March 30, 2023, 5:00 PM Arizona Time

Position Summary:

The Manager - Facilities and Operations is responsible for supervising the operation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant on an assigned campus, as well as the facilities and maintenance areas at education centers and the District Office.

Incumbents participate in establishing short and long-term projects related to maintenance and operations activities for the College.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises employees; prioritize and assign work; conduct performance evaluations; ensure staff are trained; and make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
  • Determines what repairs and/or replacements are required for an operational and safe campus; work closely with State Fire Marshall, Department of Public Safety, and outside agencies to ensure safety compliance; implements College solutions for Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
  • Responds to questions or concerns from, administration, staff, students, or outside agencies
  • Coordinates non-contracted work on capital improvements
  • Reviews construction plans and inspects and approves work
  • Coordinates specialized repairs or improvements with contractors and vendors; inspect and approve work performed
  • Schedules preventative maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, building and grounds
  • Prepares and administers the campus maintenance budget; assists in implementing and forecasting funds for staffing, materials, and supplies
  • Participates in administrative planning committees; advises and recommends solutions regarding the facilities and its needs
  • Oversees the administration of service contracts
  • Provides support for facility services for campus hosted special events, College functions, conferences, athletic events, and related campus events
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as required

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Technology, or a related field and
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible full performance level plant maintenance experience, including one year of supervisory responsibility and
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License and
  • Certification in the application of pesticides and other related chemicals by the State Office of Pest Management
or

  • Associate's degree in Construction Technology, or a related field and
  • Five to eight of progressively responsible full performance level plant maintenance experience, including one year of supervisory responsibility and
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License and
  • Certification in the application of pesticides and other related chemicals by the State Office of Pest Management
or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above and
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License and
  • Certification in the application of pesticides and other related chemicals by the State Office of Pest Management
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crawling, crouching, lifting, reaching, balancing, stooping, grasping, manual dexterity, kneeling, standing for prolonged periods, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions

Light Work: Exerting force up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

Incumbents may be working in areas with moving mechanical parts, electrified equipment, vibrations, fumes, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, low lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
