Working closely with the director of global communications, and other members of the communications team, the manager, corporate communications will be responsible for writing and editing copy, including stories, posts, scripts and presentations for a diverse range of platforms and channels including:

  • internal website
  • weekly / monthly newsletters
  • live events
  • social media posts
  • public relations outreach
This role requires close attention to detail and strong proofreading skills. The manager, corporate communications will conduct research and be a key partner in developing ongoing editorial communications for the organization.

This role will also work closely with HBI's brand marketing teams and PR agencies to plan and execute public relations plans / programs supporting the company's brands including Champion, Hanes, Maidenform and Bali.

Strong program management skills are critical, as the successful candidate will be working with a broad product portfolio, multiple stakeholders and varied timelines. This role also requires effectively managing multiple outside agencies across varied initiatives, ensuring streamlined workflow and communications.

The ability to assess applicable trends, work with traditional and non-traditional media, and navigate the overall external landscape to identify and leverage external communications opportunities is central to success in this role.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this role (including but not limited to):
  • Conducting research, drafting content, and proofing copy for both internal and external audiences
  • Helping manage the company's brand public relations Center of Excellence
  • Writing a variety of materials, including press releases, talking points, social media postings.
  • Assisting in positioning HBI's brands as leaders in everyday apparel.
  • Handling media inquiries and setting up proactive media campaigns around brands and products.
  • Handling and / or prepping others to serve as spokespeople for media inquiries associated with assigned programs.
  • Working closely with other members of the communications team as needed on a range of projects, including internal communications, sustainability, corporate communications and community relations
  • Building and developing innovative ways to communicate with internal and external audiences.
Important experience for this role:
  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations, social media and media relations, preferably in a consumer-products company or similar corporate setting. Ideally, experience as a spokesperson.
  • Proven track record of working with media, including prepping others for interviews.

Qualifications
  • Required Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field required
  • Required Years of Experience: 6 + years of experience, preferably developing and executing corporate, brand and/or external communications
  • Ability to quickly understand business goals/programs, effectively manage varied messages and develop powerful, easily understood materials.
  • Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively. Must have the ability to handle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and work effectively in a team setting.
  • Must be able to prioritize and work under pressure. Must be flexible and able to adjust quickly to changing needs of the organization.
  • Proven experience and the ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, confidentiality and good judgment is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to quickly build effective working relationships with individuals in a variety of business functions and in a variety of levels within the company.
  • Strong organization skills, detail orientation and efficient follow-up processes.
  • Sense of urgency in completing tasks in a timely manner
