Job Description Summary
Performs work throughout the plant facilities installing, servicing and repairing various electrical systems. The Maintenance Electrician strives to maintain the process electrical systems in a manner that assures an uninterrupted processing of quality potato products.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assures the continuing operation of the plant electrical systems by periodic preventive maintenance on the equipment.

Must be able to install and maintain wiring, Motor Control Centers (MCC's), bus duct, conduit and electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code.

Must be able to read programs and schematics; able to troubleshoot PLC's and control circuits throughout the plant with minimal supervision.

Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.

Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, relays, switches, sensors and other devices.

Must be able to repair and install bearings on all plant motors and add correct amount of grease to the bearings.

JOB DESCRIPTION

MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN, CONTINUED.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Two year certificate in Electronics (Associates Degree) from college or technical school; or State Electrical License. Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, electrical schematics and procedure and parts manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Must read, write and communicate in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. With personal protective equipment, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold, extreme heat, occasionally works in high, precarious places; and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
