Electro-Mechanical Technician

Position Summary:

  • The Electro-Mechanical Technician will constantly be alternating in between troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and on the spot machine repair. You will need a firm focus and understanding of programmable logic controllers. This person must be creative in their solutions without being unclear in their documentation.


Responsibilities, Challenges, and Opportunities:
  • 2-3 years in troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems down to component level
  • An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes; motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial / electronic controls, and power transmission systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Able to install and set up both A/C and D/C drives
  • Experience in Packaging equipment (box maker, wrapper, conveyor systems, sealers, hot glue systems).
  • PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude.
  • Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of power transmission equipment and bearings.
  • Basic welding skills preferred but not required.
  • Familiar with pumps, both air and electric.
  • Familiar with ovens, mixers, chillers, and CIP systems.
  • Able to install and trouble shoot basic 3 phase motor control circuits
  • Knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime
  • Ability to work safely at elevated heights (ladders, aerial work platforms, etc.)
  • Knowledge of OSHA and work place safety standards
  • Bakery experience a plus
  • Analyzing Conditions and Providing Solutions. Identifying and examining production equipment failures to understand root cause analysis with the help of interpreting schematics and drawings. Investigating and repairing electrical & mechanical systems such as: pneumatics, drives and hydraulics, and conveyors.


  • Prioritizing Innovation and Communication. Actively seeking ways to improve plant efficiency and cost savings and maintaining an open dialogue with lead and supervisor regarding day-to-day activities.


Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred or one to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of maintenance experience minimum or a combination of 3 years experience and related education.
  • Must be flexible with work scheduling as well as overtime
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to understand detailed written and/or oral instructions including basic mathematical skills
  • An Active licensed Journeyman (electrical) with PLC experience preferred
  • Previous experience working in a food manufacturing plant preferred


Working Conditions:

This position requires knowledge and awareness of manufacturing and industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. Position requires ability to work overtime, varying start times and weekends dependent on business needs.
