Responsibilities Works with FSU faculty and staff to identify, evaluate, market and protect intellectual property; meets with faculty and staff members one-on-one to learn about their work, identify potential commercial opportunities, obtain invention disclosures, advise on best practices in order to maximum revenue potential for IP license, and initiates strategies; attend faculty seminars and events in order to establish relationships and to promote available resources, and works with outside firms to design protection for identified intellectual property.Identify commercialization opportunities for University Intellectual Property (IP) including licensing IP to established companies and/or identifying potential startup company opportunities. With regards to startup companies, this includes identifying potential entrepreneurs and helping to direct them to resources available for establishing a company capable of successfully licensing University Intellectual Property.Negotiates licensee for University Intellectual Property with established and startup companies. Helps to establish relationships between licensees and faculty/staff inventors that will aid in commercialization of licensed technology/intellectual property, including the facilitation and encouragement of sponsored research in the inventors' laboratories. Manage a portfolio of license agreements in regard to the relationship between University and licensee.Provide hands-on assistance with Office of Commercialization programs and events, to include but not limited to; university internal distribution of grants, events displaying University IP, faculty and staff recognition events, and any other programs, projects, or events with which the Office of Commercialization is involvedQualifications

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year related experience; or Bachelor's degree and three years experience related to research administration.

    Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions. Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices. Ability to meet project deadlines. Ability to represent the University in appointed area as required. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8a-5p, with occassional attendance at events after 5pm.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
