Description:
Reporting to the Director of Student Access Services (SAS), the Learning Specialist will support the Division of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Provides individualized weekly one-on-one skill development sessions for a cohort of students in the Program for Academic Learning Skills (PALS) and Academic Coaching programs.
* Works as a liaison between PALS students, professors, administrators, and parents.
* Develops and implements individual action plans in collaboration with students in the Academic Coaching program.
* Conducts individual needs assessments or consultations for other students registered with SAS and makes referrals as needed.
* Interviews prospective candidates for the PALS program.
* Maintains accurate records of student interactions, including meeting notes in Navigate.
* Collaborates with other offices in the Division of Student Affairs to develop programming to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in special education, disability services, or a related field required.
* Three to five years of experience working with high school or college age students, preferably in a teaching capacity.
* Demonstrated ability to teach reading and writing skills, as well as alternative learning strategies.
* Ability to work with students from diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence.
* Experience working with students with learning disabilities and/or ADHD.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Collaborative, organized, and detail oriented.
* Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology and its application in the classroom.
* Experience working with students on the autism spectrum.
* Experience in interpreting disability related diagnostic testing.
