As a Lead Process Engineer at Reality Labs, you will lead the development and bring-up of new innovative technologies that are core to delivering transformative experience in AR/VR products. You will join an agile team that is laser-focused on incubating winning prototypes, establishing new process capabilities with supply-chain partners, and releasing product sub-systems that are fully hardened for high-volume manufacturing (HVM).

Lead Process Engineer Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely in a collaborative relationship with subcontract Manufacturing partners and Engineering teams where you will develop the HVM infrastructure required to produce the highest quality hardware. Based on a robust engineering background, candidates should have earned their track record of bringing multiple products from concept into HVM
  • Lead design and development of technically complex manufacturing processes including material selection, parameter optimization, equipment, metrology and system design to enable new products designs & functional requirements
  • Drive the technical scoping and development of new technologies, identify key suppliers and develop working relationships to enable successful project development
  • Deliver engineering solutions from initial design concept by methodical use of Six Sigma Methodologies to identify areas or risk and design test vehicles and methodologies to re-risk critical items in early prototype builds
  • Demonstrate failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem solving for product yield and quality issue
  • Develop and perform incoming quality control (IQC), in-process quality control (IPQC) and outgoing quality control (OQC) as part of quality control
  • Document engineering requirements, test plans, troubleshooting procedures, application notes
  • Support manufacturing activities by acting as a point of contact for troubleshooting, new feature/process rollout, and materials/process testing
  • Lead functional technology groups and drive cross-functional decisions on process development and architecture
  • Create and manage acceptance test procedures to validate equipment performance upon installation at target site
  • Publish documentation of procedures, setups and experimental results with strong attention to detail


Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of experience in process development in consumer electronics or related fields
  • Experience in working with subcontract manufacturing partners


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in relevant degree with background in module equipment development
  • Experience with 1+ full life cycle product launches including production ramp and HVM
  • Demonstrated experience with failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem solving for product yield and quality issues
  • Demonstrated experience performing DOE, data analysis and SPC control
  • Excellent data handling, documentation, critical milestone creation, and organization skill
  • Experience on Adhesives and encapsulation materials
  • Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, VB for Excel, LabView)
