Primary Duties:Under general supervision, the Lead Custodian provides leadership in all facets of the cleaning operation for Facilities Management and Services; giving work direction and training for the custodial staff and student employee staff. Working independently and/or as part of a team, the incumbent is responsible for providing general cleaning and custodial care and support, performing their duties in their specific assigned work area and in other work areas as needed. Work areas are located within buildings, facilities, structures, classrooms, public areas, patios, entryways and workshops, adjacent areas and/or portions thereof, but are not limited to these areas. Facilities Management and Services (FMS) is a large, multifaceted department consisting of approximately 200 employees working various shifts and providing diverse administrative and operational services campus wide. The essential functions and responsibilities listed in this position description are typical work activities and the general range of work functions performed by Lead Custodians, they are not an all-inclusive or restrictive list of custodial-related work. Facilities Management and Services maintains, operates, and protects the University facilities and environs to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, safe and healthy for the University community, and attractive for University visitors while preserving the University's physical heritage for future generations. MANDATORY VACCINATIONS
The CSU will require faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19. This requirement will be effective at the beginning of the Fall 2021 term, or upon the full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of one or more vaccines, whichever occurs first. Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation. Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
