What you will be doing:

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, architecting, and delivering solutions for global ecommerce websites built on Magento 2 platform.

Will connect with internal and external stakeholders to agree on project requirements, scope, and timeline, provides suggestions on the architecture and/or possible 3rd party solutions available in the ecommerce ecosystem, and implements the solutions according to Magento and internal to the team quality standards and best practices.

Besides delivering the outstanding solutions for the projects, the successful candidate will contribute to the code and architecture quality guidelines to ensure the stability and extensibility of the projects.

Will work directly with other Software Engineers (Backend and Frontend), DevOps Engineers, Lead Engineers, Project Managers, and agencies to build, maintain, and improve ecommerce websites using industry best practices. And will also mentor onshore and offshore engineers.

  • Developing new functionality

  • Improving existing functionality

  • Magento platform upgrades

  • 3rd party plugins upgrades

  • Capturing requirements from partners

  • Offering solutions

  • Discussing limitations

  • Assessing timelines

  • Scoping and diagramming problems and solutions

  • Communicating and discussing solutions with engineers

  • Maintaining architecture diagrams and documentations

  • Identifying and eliminating redundancy

  • Troubleshooting

  • Root cause analysis

  • Resolution implementation

  • Architecture reviews

  • Code reviews

  • Contribution to internal quality and security standards

  • Detailing standards

  • Reviewing and improving existing standards

  • Helping more junior engineers with day-to-day struggles

  • Identifying areas for improvements for more junior engineers and further assisting in learning process

  • Working closely with DevOps engineers on developing and evolving CI/CD pipeline


Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Architecting and implementing a number of Magento extensions

  • Experience with various 3rd party integrations and services

  • Experience with customizing and solving problems different domains of the Magento platform (checkout, order management, customer area, admin, etc.)

  • Proficient in troubleshooting systems and identifying root cause of performance issues in Prod/QA/Dev environments using tools like NewRelic, Papertrail

  • Optimizing the systems for better response time and higher traffic

  • Proven understanding of database concepts and optimization standard methodologies

  • Strong attention to details and ability to spot issues and suggesting improvements while doing code reviews

  • Exceptional knowledge of object-oriented principles, MVC architecture, and design patterns

  • Experience with creating technical diagrams and writing technical documentation

  • Sound knowledge of SEO standard methodologies

  • Excellent written communication, problem solving, and process leadership skills


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field

  • 5+ years' experience as a Magento Engineer

  • 3+ years' experience with Magento v2

  • Magento certification is a plus

  • 5+ years strong scripting and programming skills with several modern programming languages (PHP, Python, Java, Bash, Javascript)

  • 2+ experience with frontend stack (CSS, HTML, JavaScript)

  • 2+ years' experience in Linux environments

  • Experience in team lead role

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
