JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Manager - Materials Management, is responsible for performing general laborer functions to include; Cleaning and refilling jugs with Ice and water for each Line Truck daily, janitorial duties in and around the warehouse areas, including material laydown area, and parking lot. Also other non-essential miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor-Fleet Services, is responsible for performing general laborer functions to include; picking up parts from vendors, delivering part to work sites, washing and cleaning vehicles, moving and unloading trailers, fuel company vehicles and perform other related general labor functions.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate with or without a reasonable accommodation that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum of six (6) months experience in a general laborer or similar capacity.
  2. Knowledge of general laborer practices and procedures; general parts, components and apparatuses.
  3. Knowledge of general laborer Safety Practices and Procedures.
  4. Ability to operate power and electrical tools, prepare basic reports, and have good manual dexterity.
  5. Ability to communicate effective, both orally and in writing.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, managers and the public.
  7. Valid Driver's License* and must comply with El Paso Electric Company's Driving Policy.
  8. Valid Commercial Driver's License* is required for Fleet Services.
  9. Available to work irregular hours and overtime as required.
  10. Must pass a Human Performance Evaluation (HPE).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

The following essential job functions are accomplished by utilizing hand, small power and electrical tools, trailers, fork lift, air impact wrench, bolt cutters, wires, cables, scrap materials, safety equipment and other related equipment and materials.

  1. Moves material trailers in and out of the warehouse for unloading material as required.
  2. Drives Company vehicle to various sites to perform functions.
  3. Keeps maintenance of yards as assigned.
  4. Obtains fork lift operating license and operates fork lift as needed.
  5. Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.


FLEET SERVICES

The following essential job functions are accomplished by utilizing hand, small power and electrical tools, trailers, fork lift, air impact wrench, bolt cutters, wires, cables, scrap materials, safety equipment and other related equipment and materials.

  1. Refuels, washes and cleans Company vehicles.
  2. Picks up parts and/or equipment from various vendors.
  3. Delivers parts and/or equipment to various work sites.
  4. Separates and removes useable scrap material from scrap wire.
  5. Separates various wires and cable into sorting bins for shipping.
  6. Re-stocks usable material to appropriate inventory shelves as required.
  7. Prepares paperwork for entry into the on-line inventory system as required.
  8. Moves material trailers in and out of the warehouse for unloading material as required.
  9. Drives Company vehicle to various sites to perform functions.
  10. Keeps maintenance of yards as assigned.
  11. Obtains fork lift operating license and operates fork lift as needed.
  12. Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of duties defined.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

The incumbents in this classification are subject to both outside and inside environmental conditions and temperature changes; exposed to loud noises, where the incumbents have to shout in order to be heard; exposed to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as a proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, exposure to high heat and/or to chemicals; and exposed to oils or other lubricants that may include skin exposure. Incumbents may be required to wear safety equipment and/or a respirator at times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  2. Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  3. Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  4. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  5. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  6. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  7. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  8. Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  9. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  10. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  11. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  12. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  13. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  14. Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  15. Visual acuity: Color, depth perception and field of vision to include measurement devices for close inspection and analysis.
