Organization
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join a collaborative and multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians focused on newborn health and disease research. The candidate will join a lab that uses state-of-the-art technologies and experimental animal and cell models to identify molecular influences of lung development and newborn chronic lung disease. The research technician will support the team by conducting research experiments, collecting data and samples, keeping records, maintaining lab organization, conducting literature searches, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Duties:

  • Technical approaches: Position requires rodent handling for experimental models, mammalian cell culture, biochemical and molecular assays (e.g. PCR, protein assays, etc.), histology and microscopy, handling of chemicals and gases.
  • Laboratory maintenance: Inventory and order supplies, prepare chemical stock solutions, sterilize glassware and plasticware, calibrate and maintain equipment, and keep clean work areas.
  • Literature research: Access library records for understanding relevant technical approaches.
  • Record keeping: Accurately document experimental information in paper and digital records detailing experimental design, procedures, and data collection/storage.
  • Performs other various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


Job Location
Education: High School Diploma or GED Skills:
    Knowledge of laboratory procedures      Knowledge of the proper handling of chemicals and biohazardous materials       Ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement         Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or other relevant programs      Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills      Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Preferred: 
    Knowledge of or interest in learning any one of the following- R, Python, SASAssociate's Degree in a Biological or Physical ScienceKnowledge of or interest in learning mass spectrometry and sample preparationTeam player with strong interpersonal and communication skillsHighly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recordingWillingness to learn new techniques, analysis methods and initiative to solve problems
Working Conditions:
  • Physical: Standing for prolonged periods.Manual dexterity, walking, and talking. Ability to move or lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Environmental: Laboratory Environment. May be exposed to biohazardous materials, blood borne pathogens, or chemicals.
