Job Description

Summary

• The Supervisor, C&H Laboratory oversees operation and daily activities of the laboratory technicians. Accountable for on-time reporting, training and technical support as needed.

Job Functions

• Manages a team of the laboratory technicians.
• Responsible for the on time and quality of work produced by the laboratory.
• Ensures the laboratory delivers results as scheduled and as agreed with the client.
• Responsible for compliance with ISO-17025 testing laboratory accreditations, ISO-17020 inspection agency accreditations, ISO Guide 65 Product Certification Service accreditations, and ISO-9001, and may contribute to ISO-14001, ANSI Z10-2005 or OHSAS 18001 compliance as applicable.
• Develops, reviews, submits and files reports on client sample tests, correlation tests, calibration, validation and other projects.
• Develops and validates test methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other operating, safety and quality documents as needed.
• Investigates, responds to and follow-up on client inquiries and complaints.
• Inputs and maintains technical information to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Completes laboratory tasks and assignments within tight deadlines.
• Manages multiple projects as assigned.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Makes day-to-day decisions within group
• Has some authority for personnel actions (scheduling work hours, training, and coaching)

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry discipline or related scientific discipline AND
• 2+ years working in a laboratory setting with experience following strict safety standards AND
• 1+ years supervisory/team lead experience
• Master's degree in Chemistry or related scientific disciplines
• Experience working in a multinational organization
• International business exposure with consumer products a plus
• 2+ years supervisory experience

Knowledge / Skills/ Abilities

• Language Skills: English - Advanced level
• Mathematical Skills: Advanced level required; experience with statistics
• Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate level required, advanced
• Understanding of the company Quality Management System ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 requirements in related tasks
• Knowledge of standards and methodologies including but not limited to - American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA)
• Leadership skills and abilities
• Ability to execute detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to follow directions ensuring the end results are accurate and completed with the required timeframe
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Well organized with strong sense of responsibility for project and time management
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
• Excellent time management skills are required. Must have a sense of urgency

• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word) - Advanced user proficiency
• Intermediate user proficiency
