We are currently seeking applications to fill the following job opening at Asahi Kasei Bioprocess where we sell Planova® virus removal filters and develops and manufactures related bioprocess equipment.

Job Description:

Asahi Kasei Bioprocess (AKB) provides pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturers with a comprehensive suite of tools to maximize safety and improve yields of biotherapeutics during research, clinical and commercial-scale production. PlanovaTM virus-removal filters anchor a diverse product portfolio defined by quality, consistency and scalability. Additional areas of expertise include liquid chromatography, inline buffer dilution and oligonucleotide synthesis.

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Co-Op to join our team at Asahi Kasei Bioprocess! The person in this role will be responsible for running Massachusetts Training Center (MTC) site specific projects as determined by the Laboratory Coordinator. Projects includes operation of the Shimadzu High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) LC-20A chromatography system along with chromatography method development. Keep/manage data and record fidelity, in a timely manner. Present experimental data and be responsible in developing standard operating procedures and site documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate installation, start up and operation of the Shimadzu High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) LC-20A chromatography system. Develop a Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) method to determine the size of proteins and aggregates. Deliverable for the project includes a completed SOP and a documented SEC method.
  • Establish and regulate any additional SOPs regarding laboratory operation, safety etc., and ensure alignment with AKBA S&T as required.
  • Conduct and report on application work on for the Shimadzu High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) LC-20A system. Present findings and results to an internal audience including MTC, Sales and S&T.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education: 2 - 3 years college experience in a science discipline required (Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Chemistry preferred)
  • Experience: At least 2 years in an academic laboratory environment.
  • Experience: Familiarity/training on quality and safety objectives and any certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Office.
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
  • Laboratory environment. Ability to follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
