Description

SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer on the OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Ft. Wayne, IN.

The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.

The Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) instrument is a key instrument that provides more accurate, detailed atmospheric temperature and moisture observations for weather and climate applications.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position supports all phases of the JPSS CrIS hardware development life cycle including:

• requirements definition and trace.
• preliminary and detailed/critical design.
• procurements and manufacturing.
• subsystem level integration and test.
• system level integration, test, and troubleshooting.
• instrument shipment, functional checkout, and integration into the satellite.
• satellite level integration, test and shipment to the launch site.
• support of launch and early spacecraft operations through deployment and commissioning of satellite.
• post-launch support for anomaly resolution and sustaining engineering.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

-Bachelor’s degree or higher and 14+ years related experience.

-Proficient using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

 - Experience with writing Excel Macros to aid in report generation.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint.

- Experience with DOORS markup for requirement change.
