Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • This candidate would be responsible for supporting our call center advocates for the Employer and Individual market by bringing together information from across the enterprise into an easy to use cloud-based application that provides timely information to answer our members questions and present opportunities that help our members live healthier lives.
  • This includes designing solutions that work for our most specialized advisors to support our highest need members as part of the Complex Health Solutions product.
  • You may also take part in driving solutions that enhance our member self-service portal application.

Ideal Background:

  • The ideal candidate would have previous experience as an architect working closely with various IT and business partners to develop solutions using modern technologies.
  • They would be a proven leader able to drive discussions and outcomes in a distributed team environment and have experience with open-source and cloud technologies.
  • Key technologies used include Java, Salesforce Service Cloud, Salesforce Communities, MuleSoft, Rest APIs, Kafka, Cassandra, Mongo DB, Tiger Graph.

Team and Team size:

  • This candidate would be part of a team of architects supporting multiple scrums teams which consist of roughly 10 individuals - Scrum Master/Systems Analyst, Delivery Lead, 4 Dev, 2 SDETs, Product Owner, Architect

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create solutions for business problems and process improvements
    • Collaborate with business partners to evaluate business goals, identify business problems, and design and propose innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business
    • Drive some of the software engineering phases including requirements analysis, architecture & application design
    • Plan and strategize with other key leaders on resource, technology, and product-services planning
    • Support Solution Architects by representing the capabilities and direction of their application and its ability to support the overall solution for a project/program.
    • Apply repeatable design patterns, best practices and development frameworks and techniques.
    • Ability to question and respectfully challenge the status quo to provide innovative approaches to business problems
    • Research, identify, and recommend industry and company best practices for solving business problems
    • Design and develop innovative solutions using new technologies
  • Lead and provide technical support
    • Lead and mentor software engineers within the team on Java and client-side development tech such as JavaScript, JQuery, AspectJ, and Angular
    • Ensure development team is adhering to your architected solution and following best practices.
    • Influence peers, without authority, by inspiring them to build best-of-breed solutions
    • Provide oversight and insight into production support issues and solutions to those issues
    • Ensure team is building reusable components, frameworks and libraries which can be leveraged across department
    • Be a positive and energetic inspiration to the rest of the team
  • Collaborate with and promote best practices to partners.
    • Work very closely with other architecture groups and drive solutions
    • Collaborate with delivery teams to drive continuous improvement
    • Provide learning sessions, brown-bags, and technical demos to our IT partners

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years in the software engineering profession across entire SDLC
  • Motivated individual that can work effectively as a group or on their own.
  • Prior hands-on application development background including full-stack experience with server-side, client-side and database technologies
  • Demonstrated success designing and building high-quality enterprise-class software applications
  • Knowledge of client-side development technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery, AspectJ, Angular, React
  • Prior experience with API or Web Services Architecture including Micro-services architecture
  • Prior experience with XML, SOAP, REST, JSON, SQL
  • Ability to design on-prem, cloud, and hybrid architecture solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data streaming and Pub/Sub Architecture.
  • Ability to select the most appropriate data management options for a particular solution including Relational DB, No SQL DB, Time-Series DB, NAS, and Big Data solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of web application architecture and network protocols
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols and best practices.
  • Experience creating Business Area Context Diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams, Roadmaps, Solution Overviews, and other such artifacts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the health care and health insurance industry
  • Experience with OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with Kafka
  • Knowledge of ELK Stack technologies (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Experience with or knowledge of Salesforce Service Cloud, Salesforce Communities and Mulesoft
  • Cloud architecture knowledge of AWS and Azure

Working Time:

  • Hours are flexible, typically 8am-5pm CST.

Interview Process:

  • Round 1: MS Teams Video Call (behavioral and technical screen)
  • Round 2: MS Teams Video Call or On Site (technical, mock solution approach, culture fit)
