IT Software Development Specialist Sr

BCForward is looking for Software Development Manager (Remote)

Position Title: Sr. Development Engineer

Location: Remote

Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Expected Duration: 12+ Months Contract to Hire

Job Type: Full Time/ W2

Pay Range: $52/hr on W2

Primary Purpose:

• To develop, maintain, test, and debug software in a Windows client/server environment, utilizing languages/environments such as PL/SQL, Oracle, Progress 4 GL Application Development Environment (ADE), .Net, Microsoft SQL, and other platforms. This role involves formulating system scope and objectives, preparing detailed specifications, designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining programs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Understand various aspects of the application including reports, parameters, claims management, intake services, carrier/client interfaces, and vendor/business partner interfaces.
• Analyze user needs and assist in designing specifications to meet those needs.
• Develop and modify software to meet specified requirements, including those of insurance carriers and regulatory groups.
• Test and debug assigned projects, and assist in testing projects for other members of the programming staff.
• Prepare documentation for new or existing software.
• Investigate call escalations from support staff and make necessary corrections to data and/or software.
• Assist in the professional growth of programmers.
• Adhere to departmental standards and guidelines for design and development.
• Deliver and maintain the highest quality of customer service to clients.
• Stay updated on software development language revisions and technology advances.

Additional Functions and Responsibilities:

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support the organization's quality program(s).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Information Systems or Computer Science major preferred.

Experience:

• Six years of language development in a relevant language and/or business analytical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Progress, Open Edge, PASOE, Aix/Unix, IT Support, Strong debugging skills, Progress hosted webservices, Energetic, Insatiable curiosity
• Proven experience in interpreting user requirements and business applications design strongly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of language development and applications design.
• Analytical and interpretive skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
