Job Description

Pay Rate: $45.00 to $55.00, Per Hour.

Position Purpose:

The Instrumentation & Control / Electrician will support plant operations through inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining all plant electrical systems and instrumentation and controls equipment. The incumbent will perform skilled work requiring a high degree of precision and understanding of technical data, electronic and pneumatic systems

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to all health, safety, and compliance requirements in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as company and site safety and engineering standards.
  • Participate in maintenance reliability programs and processes.
  • Participate in the development of the Electrical and Instrumentation & Control maintenance work schedule, including upcoming scheduled shutdowns.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical distribution centers.
  • Test energized systems.
  • Configure and program VFD's, process displays, and various process controllers
  • .Calibrate, install and maintain electrical/electronic equipment, pneumatic process control and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace SCADA integrated electronic components.
  • Field sketch and interpret drawings, electronic prints and repair procedures.
  • Maintain electrical machine control and process systems.
  • Maintain on-line and off-line analytical measurement equipment.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and programming of control systems for equipment upgrades and new installations.
  • Be on-call on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays. This includes the ability to answer phone calls and if needed, go into the plant on off hours.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED, minimum.
  • Minimum of 4 years progressive experience as a technician performing electrical or instrumentation & controls maintenance and repair in a manufacturing or power generation facility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to read process flow diagrams and control and instrumentation diagrams and interpreting manufacturer's manuals and drawings.
  • Able to troubleshoot and work on sophisticated electronic equipment, analyze systems and processes and make necessary corrections.
  • Work with hand tools and test instruments.
  • Write and maintain control of systems software. This includes but is not limited to PLCs, DCSs and drives.
  • Able to operate with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment with a high degree of initiative.
  • Good written and oral communications skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds without negative personal health impact.
  • Willing and able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE including respirators, fall arrest harness and chemical protective clothing without negative personal health impact.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Able to distinguish colors used in electrical wiring color-coding.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Prefer: Certified by the State of California Department of Industrial Relations as a General Electrician to perform electrical work.
  • Prefer: California Water Environment Association Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist certification.

May be exposed to:

  • Various industrial chemicals.
  • Rotating machinery.
  • Working around industrial and heavy equipment.
  • Working in humid / harsh environment.
  • Confined spaces.
