Nature of Position: Langston University is seeking a fulltime Assistant/Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department. The startingdate will be Fall 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities: Faculty member must be preparedto fulfill the responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service to theuniversity.

The faculty member will teach a minimum of 12 hours per semester.

Faculty member will provide academic advising to undergraduate students.

Faculty member will actively seek grants and other funding to help strengthenthe department's research program and provide student support.

Faculty memberwill participate in departmental, school, and university projects andcommittees.

The faculty member will play an active role in shaping the futureof the math department through departmental planning and development.

College teaching experience preferred. Thepreferred candidate will also possess expertise that allows teaching in generaleducation mathematics, linear and abstract algebra, applied and advancedstatistics, geometry, calculus and other mathematics courses that coverpractical aspects and broad applications in the field. Interest inparticipating in an active research program which could involve undergraduatestudents is highly desirable. The preferred candidate must have the ability todemonstrate use of technology in the classroom and must be willing and able touse technology relevant to specifically assigned courses. Online teachingexperience, willingness to teach online, and the ability to communicate welland employ teaching methods that engage students from traditionallyunderrepresented populations will be a plus.
